After making history as the first female rapper to have multiple diamond discs, Cardi B now has three diamond discs to her name.
Last Monday, the Recording Industry Association of America announced that Cardi B’s single I Like It , released in 2018 with J Balvin and Bad Bunny, has passed the 10 million unit mark in the United States. Figures that now make the opus a certified diamond single. With this distinction, Cardi joins Katy Perry, and ranks among the only women to have ever accomplished such a feat. Her two previous diamond singles are Bodak Yellow , also from her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy , as well as her collaboration with Maroon 5, Girls Like You.
To celebrate this accomplishment, Cardi hosted a 13-minute live Instagram session to connect with her fans and relive everything that happened around this song at the time. “I remember like it was yesterday when this song got number 1 and now it’s a diamond. […] I want to say thank you to my fans and tell you that I fucking love you all. I am indebted and grateful . I want to say thank you to J Balvin, ” she wrote. “Honestly, I can’t believe this is happening! I am so proud that two songs from my first album became Diamond. I hope I can achieve the same or even better on my next one. I have accomplished so much, but I always want more ”
The 29-year-old Grammy winner also confessed to being a little sick, and recovering from a stomach virus that makes her think about going vegan, also vowed that her long-awaited second album will finally arrive in 2022. .
