In recent years, rapper DaBaby has suffered a lot of emotional hardships . Between the death of his father, the suicide of his brother, the controversy linked to his homophobic rant and his intense headaches with DaniLeigh, his ex-partner and mother of his daughter , the singer has something to be upset about. On the first day of the last month of this year, he spoke out about the loss of his two family members.
His father’s death almost finished him off
DaBaby’s music fans know how much he adores his father who died in 2019 . His affection is so great that one of his albums was dedicated to him. This is the opus “Kirk” named after the artist’s legal surname, transmitted by his father. Additionally, the album art cover featured his father holding him in his arms when he was a baby.
During an umpteenth memory of his father, Dababy let himself go to all his emotions, a few hours ago on his Instagram page. He detailed how his father’s death affected him while he was exploding as an artist. He said: “ A month after signing and releasing my first Baby On Baby album in 2019, my little brother hit me and told me my father was found dead in his bed.
I was the sexiest rapper ever and spent the whole year of my breakthrough suffering behind a fake smile, using my scam not to see how bad I felt from the unexpected death of my father ”.
He hid his pain behind artificial joy
Dababy also spoke about how he overcame the pain and dedicated his music to his father . “ I walked around n **** s my first year in the game with all kinds of braces that I was too numb to appreciate.
I held on and carried the last name as well as I could, releasing my second album Kirk dedicated to my father later that year. To this day, I still don’t know what happened. Or how my father died ”. As he tries to overcome the loss of this irreplaceable being, DaBaby must face yet another tragedy.
DaBaby opens up about her brother’s suicide
In 2020, the rapper’s popularity peaked, but a tragic event was about to darken the sky that was starting to brighten. The year following his father’s death, Glen Johnson, DaBaby’s brother, took his own life at the age of 34. The singer states, ““ June 2020, ‘Rockstar’ became No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained the No. 1 song in the world for 7 consecutive weeks.
On November 3, 2020, my older brother committed suicide. I was the top streaming artist in the world when I lost my big brother ”. He said that it is difficult to celebrate his achievements and his success when one has to face such difficult realities : “ After 2 and a half years of career, I have accomplished things that the n **** have never done, those who have been in this shit for over 10 years. The whole time I didn’t feel any of it. Until this day, I have been targeted, lied to, and my name dragged through the mud every day for fame and money. Two things that everyone wants and that I don’t care about ”.
We wonder what could have generated this need for the artist to express himself on the painful events of his existence. However, so many tragedies have shaped DaBaby’s state of mind over the past few years and he never ceases to be generous to those in need. We hope that he will completely overcome these pains and that he will have all the necessary support for it.
