Every rap fan has probably heard the voice of R’n’B singer Jewell Caples. The “First Lady of Death Row Records”, as she was known, featured on albums by Snoop Dogg , Dr. Dre and 2Pac represented. She has now passed away at the age of only 53 .

Back in March, Jewell Caples announced on Instagram that she was struggling with health problems. At that time she had to be hospitalized because several kilograms of fluid had pressed on her heart, lungs and legs. She stated that she “almost died”.

Now, almost two months later, the singer is said to have passed away. An official cause of death was not announced. News of the Death Row singer ‘s death comes from Reggie Wright Jr., the label’s former head of security.

 

As a singer, she has featured vocals on some of the biggest albums in hip-hop history. Both on Dr. She can be heard on Dre’s “The Chronic” as well as on 2Pac’s “All Eyez On Me”. She also sang the hook on NWA ‘s “I’d Rather F*ck You.”

Her biggest solo hit came with a cover of the Shirley Brown song “Woman To Woman” in 1995. The track peaked at number 72 on the Billboard Top 100 chart.
