J. Cole’s Pride Is The Devil is Platinum Certified

Sharing is caring!

J Cole sees one of the singles from his latest platinum certified album. This is Pride Is The Devil which he produced in collaboration with Lil Baby.

J. Cole must be wondering what made him want to retire after his KOD album in 2018. Indeed, on May 14, 2021, he ended three years of silence by releasing his sixth album which he has titled The Off-Season. The 12-track project has brought back alongside Cole, 21 Savage and Morray on my.life, as well as Lil Baby on pride.is.the.devil, and finally BAS on let.go.my.hand. Producer level, we found big names like T-Minus, Timbaland, Boi-1da, Frank Dukes, DJ Dahi, Tae Beast, and Jake One . This project, as if by surprise, gave him a visibility that should make the 36-year-old rapper doubt his desire to retire.

One more platinum certification

Since May, it has taken 6 months, precisely this November 26, 2021 to see the single Pride Is The Devil reach the million sales. According to the RIAA, the single is now certified platinum. This certification will not necessarily have a special effect at Cole. He has already received this certification at least 16 times with other of his singles. On the other hand, this is his first joint certification with Lil Baby, another regular at this honorary plaque. This track also marks Cole and Lil Baby’s first collaboration after they appeared together in 2019 for the Dreamville recording sessions. In May, Pride Is The Devil had been very popular in its first week of release. The song debuted at No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 along with three more tracks from the same album on the charts.

J. Cole and his success with The Off-Season

J. Cole has already won a Grammy Award. It was thanks to “A Lot” with 21 Savage . Since 2012, he has had around 16 Grammy nominations. He is still in a position to win another Grammy thanks to his new album, as he is nominated in 4 different categories for the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Pride is the Devil was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance, while The Off-Season as a whole is pitted against Ye’s Donda, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Tyler’s Call Me If You Get Lost, the Creator, and King’s Disease II by Nas in the category of best rap album. His track My Life with Morray (from the same album The Off-Season) was nominated in the category of best rap performance.
