A few days before his trial for alleged assault , the American actor and singer Jussie Smollet appears on the red carpet. As a reminder, he was assaulted in Chicago in the early hours of January 29, 2019 by two individuals. Unfortunately, the actor switched from being a victim to that of a suspect after investigations revealed that Jussie had commissioned his own assault .
Jussie Smollet attends the screening of a film directed by himself
The actor of the series “ Empire ” is certainly concerned about the turn of his trial scheduled to take place in the coming days. However, he apparently decided to take his mind off things and take a break by attending a high profile event.
Indeed, during the screening of his debut as a director through the film “B-Boy Blues” , Smollet gratified those present with his presence. The 39-year-old actor has also been photographed on the carpet for the first time in years.
A rosewater film directed by Jussie Smollet
The film that prompted the 39-year-old actor’s move is based on James Earl Hardy’s 1994 novel of the same name. It tells the story of an educated Brooklyn reporter and a Harlem bicycle courier who fall in love. About his film, the director writes this on Instagram: “ Seeing all the love for the film is insanely beautiful ”. He goes on to say, “More to come as I catch up, but to everyone who came last night with so much love and community… on behalf of all @bboybluesfilm, thank you”.
The Empire actor also claims his project is still looking for a home. This means that some time will probably elapse before it is made available to the general public .
The imminent trial of Jussie Smollet
The appearance of the actor before the judicial authorities is scheduled for November 29 . The California star tried unsuccessfully to get the proceedings quashed in October. During this time, everything seemed to darken for him to the point where singer, actor and producer 50 Cent had embarked on a process of ridiculing him . Indeed, Curtis Jackson wanted to overshadow the actor of the series “Empire” by joking about the fact that his former collaborator had to “ cry inside ”.
It should be noted that Jussie Smollet is accused of having falsified statements on the racist and homophobic attack of which he claimed to have been the victim in January 2019. Remember that the police investigations revealed that the new director had paid two of his former colleges of the Empire to stage an assault. Of course, Smollet vehemently refutes these allegations.
What will be the outcome of this trial in your opinion? If Jussie is found guilty of these charges, it is highly likely that it will deal a big blow to his career as a director and even as an actor.
