Kidd Creole was reportedly approached by a 55-year-old homeless man in 2017. Probably because he thought he was gay, the rapper got mad and stabbed the man several times with a steak knife . Kidd Creole’s lawyers had pleaded self-defense.

Unsuccessful. Last month, a grand jury in New York found the rapper guilty. Now the verdict followed: The 62-year-old has to go to prison for a total of 16 years for manslaughter. In the room were even 25 years imprisonment.

Kidd Creole rose to worldwide fame in the 70’s and 80’s as part of the group Grandmaster Flash & the Furios Five. Their track “The Message” is now recognized cultural property in the United States and the group has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
