Megan Thee Stallion crowned artist with hip-hop album of the year at the AMAs

Sharing is caring!

Strongly shaken by the Coronavirus pandemic, the American Music Awards made their comeback yesterday, November 22 . Among the favorite artists of the event, we had Olivia Rodrigo nominated seven times, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat and many more. The rapper Megan Thee Stallion won the coronation of the hip-hop album of the year .

Good News honored at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles

The interpreter of ”  Hot Girl Summer  ” had canceled her participation in the American Music Awards at the last minute. The reasons for this decline remain unclear, but the singer said they are personal. She had to perform on stage with BTS to perform their common piece. However, the pain of missing an event of such magnitude was quickly offset by the trophies won.

Indeed, the album “Good News” of the Hot Girl was named best hip-hop album to “Certified Lover Boy” Drake and Aim For The Moon Pop Smoke. Juice WRLD’s “Legends Never Die” and Rod Wave’s “SoulFly” also failed to match.

A victory disputed by some fans

During the same ceremony in which Cardi B served as the master of ceremonies , Thee Stallion also received the coronation of favorite female hip-hop artist . However, many fans took to social media to express their displeasure. In fact, they claim that Megan’s “Good News” album might not have been the best choice for this category. They would have preferred to see Pop Smoke or Drake win rather than the young woman from Houston.

These reactions are all the same surprising when one remembers that this event is based on the vote of the public . If the singer was able to win this title, it is obviously because many fans voted for her album.

In addition, the other stars who were crowned best artists of the year in the various categories are Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Drake, Doja Cat and The Weeknd. We also have the BTS who achieved the feat of being the first Asian group to be honored Artist of the Year.
