Sharing is caring!

On January 7, 2022, Sawwetie will release an EP titled Icy Season. She gave details of this project in an interview with Gerrick Kennedy.

Far from the controversy with Lil Baby, Saweetie does not lose sight of his musical career. She is already announcing the colors for 2022. While waiting for her first album Pretty Bitch Music, Saweetie plans to launch a project for January 7, 2022. The announcement was made last week during an interview between the artist and the cultural critic and author Gerrick Kennedy . She revealed many details about this project which she titled Icy Season.

Everything about Icy Season

During the interview, the artist revealed that Icy Season will be a seven song EP. This project will not be a purely solo achievement even if the title is close to his personality of ice girl. She’s put some features into it and reveals that the project will serve as a “pretty bitch bible” for all the frozen girls. The project, while being a taste of Saweetie’s debut studio album Pretty Bitch Music, is part of the ongoing logic that the artist sets out in his previous songs. This project also aims to maintain the dynamic of new music by the artist.

A fairly rich year 2021

The choice to release this project in 2022 is justified by a fairly rich year 2021 for Saweetie. During this year, she released the double platinum hit, “Best Friend” with   Doja Cat . She also released the project, Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1 in April of that same year. Most recently, in November, she released Get It Girl for the soundtrack of season 5 of the series Insecure. Also in November, she released the single Icy Chain which she featured on the Saturday Night Live stage.

In terms of award, she was the winner of the best new artist award on behalf of the MTV EMA. 2021 allowed her to nourish the hope of being crowned on January 31, 2022 at the Grammy Awards. Indeed, she was nominated in two categories for the Grammy. She was nominated for Best Rap Song thanks to Best Friend with Doja Cat. She will face J. Cole in this category. She is also in the race to be the new artist.

Following the announcement of these nominations, Saweetie jumped onto the web for a thank you message. “  I’m speechless, I wish I had the words to express how I’m feeling but I’m so grateful,  ” Saweetie wrote. “To be recognized for all the hard work that me and my team have done is an amazing feeling. Thank you to #TeamIcy for supporting me through thick and thin, you are all real IKDR rolls or crèves!
