Talib Kweli calls Kanye West an ‘impostor’

Sharing is caring!

Kanye West has always had something to say about the hip-hop industry and more of his peers. During his recent interview with NORE and DJ EFN on Drink Champs, Ye admitted to resorting to backpack rap to elevate his career and build a name for himself, although he is more in tune with street rap, and that he has a personal preference for artists like JAY-Z and labels like Cash Money.

Talib Kweli, who has always been an integral part of Kanye’s team, took issue with many of Ye’s comments during the famous Drinks Champs interview, including his comments about backpack rap. Talib shared a video of Ye saying this, and wonders if he should be offended:

”  Imposter (name) – someone who pretends they are not… an affected or insincere person, ” Talib wrote on Instagram, offering a definition for the word. ”  Real question – since when do you celebrate impostors in hip-hop?” I don’t even know if I should laugh or be offended anymore. “ .

Long before this episode, Talib shared a lengthy response to Ye’s interview, in addition to a photo of Ye’s alleged team of ghost writers in response to other claims by the artist, which led to Waka Flocka to leave a comment on this tendency in the game, to ”  demolish ours”.
