The Weeknd gives a grim description of his new album “The Dawn”

Sharing is caring!

In early October, The Weeknd took the time on their radio show “  Memento Mori” to reveal that their upcoming album, The Dawn , was finished. The ” In Your Eyes  ” singer  didn’t mention a release date, but did give a brief description of it during his recent Billboard coverage. It was on the occasion of the celebration of the new record broken by his single ”  Blinding Lights  ” which has never ceased to cause a sensation since its release.

The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” Becomes Billboard Number 1 Song

On Tuesday, November 23, Billboard announced that the song “Blinding Lights” was now No. 1 on the Hot 100 of all time. The single dethroned the Chubby Checker hit ”  The Twist “, released in 1960, which had held that position since 2008. Other top 5 songs on this list include “Uptown Funk!” “By Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars and” Smooth “by Santana and Rob Thomas.

”  Blinding Lights “, along with the entire studio album that carries it, the infamous After Hours , saw The Weeknd explore and perfect a sound from the 1980s that it had only scratched the surface of before. He also spoke about it in his interview with the Billboard to celebrate his achievement: “I always tinkered with the sounds of the 80s. It was much more subtle before, but I always wanted to immerse myself in it completely. And 10 years later, I think I deserved it ”.

The Dawn, an album that promises to be as explosive as its predecessor

During his recent Billboard coverage, to celebrate the fact that “Blinding Lights” has become the best-selling song of all time, The Weeknd developed an update which he provided last month and described exactly. what The Dawn means to him.

“  Imagine the album as if the listener is dead, ” he told Billboard . “And they’re stuck in this purgatory state, which I’ve always imagined as being stuck in traffic waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. And while you’re stuck in traffic, there’s a radio station playing in the car, with a host guiding you towards the light and helping you get to the other side. So it can be a celebration, it can be dark, whatever you want, but that’s what The Dawn is to me. ”

The Toronto native continued, revealing that these moments of celebration and gloom are funneled into a handful of different sounds that drive the album. “  You’ll hear EDM, hip-hop, and three other kinds of sounds in a song – and somehow we make it work, ” he said.

While fans’ impatience only increases, the ” Starboys ”  singer remains silent regarding the album’s release date. With the continued success of After Hours, it’s not like he has to be in a rush to release a new album. However, the more he talks about it, and brings what until now was just a headline and a handful of Instagram posts, the harder it is not to be convinced that The Dawn is just around the corner.
