“Tiny Desk Concert”: Olivia Rodrigo delivers her virtual concert in a mystical place, the DMV

Young Olivia Rodrigo once again showed a stunning performance during “Tiny Desk Concert” . Olivia Rodrigo filmed her “ Tiny Desk (Home) Concert ” for NPR on Tuesday, and everything suggests that the event took place at the very place where she got her driver’s license.

Olivia Rodrigo chooses a very significant place for the Tiny Desk Concert

”  Calling All Heads of Olivia Rodrigo: Tomorrow NPR Music will host the famous singer-songwriter (!!!!!!) Tiny Desk concert (at home),” NPR Music tweeted with a photo of the performance. , which features the Sour star wearing a fuzzy purple and red sweater with her hair in pigtails. From the photo, it appears that Rodrigo has chosen to stage her virtual concert in the mystical place where she obtained her first driver’s license: the DMV.

Indeed, Olivia Rodrigo has achieved the seemingly impossible feat of making the DMV an unforgettable place . Rodrigo’s stripped-down ensemble was under the fluorescent lights of his local DMV, which is a not-so-subtle nod to his hit single “  Drivers License ”. The singer didn’t change the location much before loading her instruments onto the linoleum floor . Presumably, decades-old signs hang in the background of the shot, and an electronic card indicates the next customer.

Rather than lead with his first single, Rodrigo started off with a rendition of his other hit “  Good 4 U ”, a track that still managed to pack a punch despite its acoustic form. Subsequently, the star switched to a rising version of her song ”  Traitor “, which she considered to be the favorite track on her LP.

The singer then went from an acoustic guitar to a keyboard to present her backup band before embarking on ”  Drivers License “, which she performed solo. Finally, to top off her four-song set, Rodrigo took things up a notch with “Deja Vu, ” which she said is a reflection on how relationships can sometimes feel “  recycled ”.

Olivia Rodrigo on a world tour from next year

A few hours ago, the “Good 4 U” singer also announced her much-anticipated Sour Tour , which kicks off next April with openers Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone and Baby Queen. The tickets will go on sale Friday for the 40 North American and European dates.

Last week, Rodrigo’s performance at Austin City Limits aired on PBS, and she also stopped by the Teen Vogue Summit and Block Party for an acoustic – but no less scary – rendition of “Good 4 U”. Meanwhile, she is currently nominated for seven Grammy Awards at the upcoming ceremony in 2022, including nods for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and the best new artist. One thing is certain, the young singer has joined the court of the big stars of 2021.
